Back On Track
Well it was back to normal after the disappointment of Sunday as we got out on Monday night, I had been reading a bit of stuff on the web from people recommending that it's a good idea to incorporate a mid length run into your weekly runs approx 50% of your long run, so with that in mind we had decided that we would go for a midweek 6.5 mile run during the week.
We discussed it on our way to the park on Monday and after the disappointment of Sunday we said we'd give our middle length run a shot that night. We had already decided to do the first 3 miles or so of the half marathon that we will be running later this month so our plan was just to do the lap twice and it would be 6 miles or so.
We parked up beside the castleknock gates and walked to the start line made our way down Chesterfield Ave and continued on as the course indicated. The first 3 miles got us to half way up Furze Road, we then realised that no matter what way we went two laps of this route would be more like 7 miles, but we were both feeling fine and had no trouble continuing. The run itself was very uneventful, we didn't seem to have any problems at all, Sarah's knees only suffering a little bit towards the very end, but I think this is down to us now running on concrete where as up to recently we had done all our training on grass. It was great to get out and do 7 and a half miles and feel no pain and really gave us both a boost after our crisis at the weekend.
Back out again on Wednesday and an easy 3 miles this time on grass, so as not to punish the knees too much. Again it went well with no aches or pains and no trouble at all. More of the same tonight before our 13 miles on Saturday which I'm really looking forward to. I'll crawl around the course on my hands and knees rather than not finish it again so hopefully we'll have no problems this time.
We've moved our long run to Saturday now as according to our training plan we will be running Monday to Thursday next week and for the next few weeks so we will be taking Sundays off to help us recover and prepare for the weeks running in front of us.

nice blog...
you and sarah look like you're having a lot of fun already! best of luck to both of you in your training.
Keep at it and everything will slot into place come October.
For some reason, the new beat blog won't allow me to post directly, so in case you are wondering, it's Liam here :) (Irishrunaholic)
