That wasn't fun.

Well we didn't do the 10 miles as planned yesterday but we did complete the 10K as per our training schedule. We had decided to run the Frank Duffy 10 mile course that was run in the Phoenix Park on the Saturday, as we were unable to enter the race, but things didn't really go to plan. It was a very tough course with a lot of hills; the heat didn't make things any easier either. We really weren't expecting it to be so tough and by the time we were at mile 3 we had already decided that we weren't going to do the 10 miles but quit after the first lap of 5 miles. As it turns out we took a wrong turn in the Park and found ourselves outside on the road in Castleknock. From that point on it just got tougher with large inclines and the fact that we didn't know where we were going. In the end we just gave up and decided to walk back to the car. As it turned out our little wrong turn had taken us a long way from the original course and we were just happy to get back to the car...
Ahhh well. Not too disappointed about the whole experience but it did knock our confidence a bit after our 10 mile the Sunday before but we learned an invaluable lesson that we need to include more hill work into our running or we could be in serious trouble.

Mr Negative......you failed to mention that we ran the course out in the car & discovered we ran 6 miles, not the 5 we thought we thought.
